In his short lifetime of 39 years, Frédéric Chopin composed more than 200 compositions for piano, most of which are part of the active repertoire of concert pianists the world over. Chopin, a virtuoso pianist and musical genius, was also much in demand as a teacher. These "Four Preludes" are considered standard repertoire for all developing pianists. I figured this book would be about different jobs in Sociology. Especially praiseworthy is the inclusion of women authors in the third version, although at the expense of such thinkers as Richard Rorty, Vygotsky, and Hegel.

The introductions for each philosopher are succinct, and the questions at the end of each chapter can be used in the classroom for discussion. This is a most enjoyable book, especially for those of us trying, like the author, to improve our riding, whether on unwilling, unruly or cooperative horses. It's worth reading, especially if you want to get a glimpse of science in a developing country and the kind of efforts it takes to do research in such a place.
