Tesla is famous for many things but mainly for these three things: a brushless AC motor (which the author explains how it works very briefly and badly; an AC motor has AC electricity as the input, and a rotating mechanical shaft as the output), a form of primitive radio relying on ‘spark gap transmissions’ rather than ‘continuous wave transmissions’ (which the author does not explain), and a so-called “Tesla coil” which is a transformer to change voltages (which the author explains tersely). This book reads more like a Runyonesque story than a biography, which makes it so interesting to read, besides the fact that it gives a glimpse into the life of the very private Damon Runyon..
