I needed this book for a class I am taking. That one, from Amazon Publishing, was a travesty: full of washed-out illustrations and typographic ugliness.
This one, from children's publisher Albert Whitman & Company, is a lovely surprise. The specifics of his work are only discussed in captions next to the pictures, usually consisting of statements to the effect of "This panel is an obvious demonstration of his unusual use of perspective."
Um. As Newton said, ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’. But, if you like food, and how to prepare a great dish with salt from the 13th century, as well as other centuries, you will think it's great! As for me, it is a big failure.. He wanted to buy the first book as soon as he finished this one. In his native city of Bangalore he is virtually worshipped by some; I have seen a traffic intersection named after him.
