To me, a 5 star review means I could find no way to improve the product whatsoever; there are very, very few "5 star things" in my life.
For anyone with even a passing interest in the subject matter, this book is absolutely a must-have. It is supplemented with photographs and personal interviews. Keep in mind, the food served at American Chinese restaurants is not the traditional Chinese diet.
The Tao of Healthy eating is a great book by Bob Flaws that teaches the authentic Chinese Medicine diet and food science. The children really learn on the number books.. Plus, I love The Pragmatic Programmers series by Pragmatic Bookshelf and this history contained here belongs in this series. Understand it? Good. TCM is over 2,000 years old and the concepts take volumes of medical texts to fully understand. Otherwise, look for more horsepower elsewhere.. I also liked the way the narrative shifted between the stories of the three women. Some people will love it, others won't
