I actually purchased this book on a discount table when I realized Mr. Indeed the book seemed to me to be as much a vehicle for Breslin to get some of his personal predjudice's off his chest as much as it was a book about Runyon.. Tesla is famous for many things but mainly for these three things: a brushless AC motor (which the author explains how it works very briefly and badly; an AC motor has AC electricity as the input, and a rotating mechanical shaft as the output), a form of primitive radio relying on ‘spark gap transmissions’ rather than ‘continuous wave transmissions’ (which the author does not explain), and a so-called “Tesla coil” which is a transformer to change voltages (which the author explains tersely). This book is a tribute to the brave Americans who think nothing of putting themselves in harms way. Then came 9/11, to which he was an eyewitness.
